Enrollment in Excess Units for Summer Sessions. Students are advised to take no more than 12 units during Summer Session at UC Merced. Units above the maximum advisable amount are allowed only with permission of a students’ academic advisor. Students applying for excess units must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or a minimum of a 3.3 GPA in their last semester. EXCESS UNITS Students transferring to UC Merced from a regionally accredited four-year college or university may have up to 89 transferable semester (133.5 quarter) units and still be eligible to transfer.
